I’m confused.

Well, not entirely. Here’s the deal. The Rock’n'Roll Hall of Fame, which bores me anyway, is now allowing rap and hip hop candidates into its annals. Correct me if I’m wrong, BUT…it’s called Rock’n'Roll for a reason. I can understand wanting to bring recognition to all styles of music, but if it’s gonna be called rock, then maybe let’s try and preserve that. To be honest, I think music that continously is cherished by people is the best way to be classified as a legend. I don’t feel like paying money to see Steven Tyler’s jockstrap. No thanks. I’m not even a big Aerosmith fan. But there are enough musical styles to have different classifications, and those are called genres. The rock genre just happens to have a building to give it formal recognition. There’s enough rap and hip hop to maybe - oh i don’t know - give it it’s own museum. Keep it special, or at least try to. Don’t be like “here’s another guitar. and oh yeah - here are some other guys who have nothing to do with rock.” I don’t know. It seems a little weird to me, but that’s just me. But like I said - I don’t care anyway. As a rocker, and I am, I know who’s who and what’s what. I have the music I should (as well as alot of guilty pleasures). But anyone who knows music knows there’s a huge difference between Jimi and a band like Maroon 5. Likewise, there are differences between The Stones and Jay-Z. I do like Jay-Z, but again - not rock. Whatever. I’m rambling and quasi-venting. Take it for whatever you want.
